    Boris Johnson was first elected Mayor of London in 2008, and was re-elected in 2012. Under his tenure crime in London has fallen 12%, the capital has seen record investment in transport and the city staged what are widely acknowledged to be the most successful Olympic and Paralympic Games ever.
    Mr Johnson made jobs and growth his key second term priority. He's soon to launch the 2020 Vision for London based on prioritising house building, investment in road and rail infrastructure, support for financial services and the tech sector, low and stable tax rates and the construction of a new multi runway hub airport.
    The Mayor was Conservative MP for Henley from 2001 – 2008 and a shadow government minister for the Arts and Higher Education.
    He's been the Editor of the Spectator magazine, produced a TV series on Roman History, and written several books. A reporter and columnist for the Daily Telegraph, he still writes a weekly column for the paper every Monday.
    The Mayor lives in North London with his wife Marina and his four children. A passionate cyclist, he enjoys painting and playing tennis.
