    Adam Wilkinson joined Derby City Council as its Chief Executive in July 2009.

    Adam has been employed in local government for the last 29 years and in that time he has worked for eleven local authorities. These have included district councils, London boroughs, unitaries, counties and cities.

    Adam holds a BSc in Construction Management and an MBA and was President of the Association of Building Engineers from 2002 - 2003. He is also a past Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building.

    Professor Keith Horton
    Keith Horton is Professor of Information Management and Dean of the Faculty of Business, Computing & Law at the University of Derby, UK. Professor Horton researches and publishes in the area of technology, innovation and organisations, with particular interests in information technology innovation and adoption. As part of his academic career he has lectured and presented at conferences across the globe. He has previously held senior roles at Edinburgh Napier University, and Sheffield Hallam University, having enjoyed a successful career in the UK public sector prior to entering academia.

    Born in Barcelona in 1965, he graduated as an architect from the School of Architecture of Barcelona at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. He obtained a Master in Large Scale Projects and a Master in Urban Management. He also completed the Management Development Program (PDD) of the IESE Business School at the University de Navarra. He is a member of the Barcelona Area Board of the Architects’ Association of Catalonia (COAC).

    Albert worked as an architect in several projects for the Organization of the Olympic Games Barcelona 1992 and he completed his training in the professional offices of architects such as Eduard Bru, Arata Isozaki and Enric Miralles, combined with his own professional practice at ADD SL. In 1998 he became part of the technical team at the INCASÒL as Planning Manager of and Technical Land Manager. Since 2012, he is the Chief Urbanist of the Barcelona City Council.

    Branimir Medi? is Senior Partner at de Architekten Cie.; he graduated in 1987 at the Faculty of Architecture of Zagreb University, Croatia. He undertook further study in 1990 at the Berlage Institute, Amsterdam, taking his Master of Excellence in Architecture degree in 1992. In 1995, together with Pero Puljiz he established the architetcture partnership Medi?+Puljiz with an alliance to de Architekten Cie. In 1998 Medi?+Puljiz joined de Architekten Cie. As partners.
    Branimir Medi? has won prestigious first prizes, such as the Dutch Prix de Rome (1995) and the Master Plan competition for the Tianjin Economic Development Area waterfront in China (2007). He has lectured at the Academies of Architecture in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Tilburg, as well as at Delft University of Technology. In 2008 he was a visiting professor at the Berlage Institute, Rotterdam, in connection with the international competition for a master plan for the Saemangeum Region, South Korea.

    City of Torino | Counsellor Cabinet Member for Urban and Strategic Planning, Private Real Estate Development and Policy Coordination on the Urban Renewal Projects
    Stefano Lo Russo, Ph.D., was born in Torino (Italy) on 15 October 1975, graduated in Geological Sciences in 1999 and obtained in 2004 a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from Politecnico di Torino.
    Lo Russo is currently Counsellor Cabinet Member for Urban and Strategic Planning, Private Real Estate development, Policy coordination on the urban renewal projects of the City of Turin.
    Stefano Lo Russo is currently Assistant Professor in Hydrogeology and Engineering geology of the Department of Environmental Engineering at Politecnico di Torino. He is author and co-author of several national and international peer-reviewed publications, and appears in various conference and symposium proceedings. He is member of the IAH (International Association of Hydrogeologists), AIGA (Italian Association of Applied Geology), Piemonte Regional Association of professional Geologists and of the Executive Committee of the GEAM Association.

    Joined Rolls-Royce in September 1979, having held senior roles in Engineering, Business Improvement and Corporate Development. Currently responsible for various cross company development initiatives and associated corporate funding from government bodies.

    Seconded to UK Government in 2001/2002 to examine the competitiveness of the UK aerospace industry and understand the role of regional economic development bodies in the development of the industry and make recommendations as to how government should respond.

    On returning to Rolls-Royce, utilised experience and knowledge gained from the secondment to establish an internal network of Rolls-Royce senior managers with responsibility for managing relationships with regional bodies such as RDAs, Regional Government Offices, Devolved Administrations and regional trade bodies. More recent activities include government funding for various UK Advanced Manufacturing Research Centres, research programmes and capital investment programmes.

    Dr Lucia Bursi Dr Lucia Bursi
    Maranello Municipality | Mayor of City of Maranello
    Lucia Bursi was born on Oct 5th 1964 and has an Architectural University Degree held in Florence.
    She has started to work with the Public Administration since 1994, first following the urban development in Modena, Sassuolo and Fiorano Modenese and then as external councillor responsible for Public Works in Maranello. Between 1996 and 1999, Lucia Bursi has been appointed as councillor for Urban, Territorial and Private Building development for the same community. In 2004, she has been elected for the first time as Mayor in Maranello and then confirmed in 2009. She is President of the National Association Motor Cities.

    Ezio Micelli is senior partner at Mesa srl, (Milan – Venice) a company focused on project feasibility, appraisal and management in Private Public Partnership development. He is associate professor of Real Estate Appraisal and Cost Estimating at the Iuav University of Venice, and Fellow of Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. He was city planning town councillor of Venice Municipality from 2010 to 2013.

    Born in 1972, Laurent Schmitt graduated in September 1998 from Supelec, Paris in France with a degree in Power System Engineering. He started his career in the Power Generation area with ALSTOM on Hydro and Thermal Plant Controls in Northern America. In 2000 Laurent moved to the Alstom T&D division, sold to Areva T&D, where he held positions as Sales Director for South-East Asia and Product marketing Director, covering applications for electrical protection, transmission and distribution substations, dispatching centres and energy trading platforms.

    In June 2007, he was appointed Director for Strategy at the Areva T&D Automation Business Unit, working with the various French and international organisations focusing on the intelligent management of the energy network infrastructure. In 2008 he was appointed Vice-President for Strategy & Innovation for the Energy Management Business of Alstom Power to capitalize on Alstom Power’s expertise in the management and optimisation of generation of power generation assets.

    Following the integration of Areva T&D’s activities within Alstom in June 2010, Laurent has joined the new Alstom Grid sector as Vice President for Smart Grid Solutions, in charge of developing Alstom’s offering on the Smart Grid segment worldwide.

    Laurent Schmitt is member of several strategic industry committees working on Smart Grids such as CIGRE, IEC, EPRI and ENTSOe and contributes to several expert advisory taskforces to the European Commission , the International Energy Agency (IEA), and several university consortium including the University College Dublin , in the areas of Generation, Smart Grid and Storage applications. He recently co authored a white paper on Smart Grids standards convergence published through the CIMUsergroup as well as on Smart Cities to the World Energy Conference.

    Paul is Chairman of the UK Urban Design Group and a Consultant Urban Designer working in private practice in London. He leads on regeneration, masterplanning, and public realm projects around the world, and his experience includes working with local authorities, central government and private landowners & developers in producing people-orientated masterplans for large and complex sites where a robust movement strategy is essential in underpinning a successful development proposal. In recent years he has specialised on projects related to rail and aviation.

    Paul is Expert Advisor to the Northern Ireland Ministerial Advisory Group on Architecture and the Built Environment and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA). He is Chair of the London Borough of Hackney’s design review panel, and sits on the London Borough of Islington Panel. Paul is committed to promoting good design and design quality, and considers design review an integral tool in achieving this.
