He received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the School of Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania, a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and a Master of Science in Construction Management from Stanford University.

    Simon is responsible for the investment and portfolio management activities of the Private Equity funds. Before joining AEW Europe, Simon held positions in the real estate investment teams of GE Real Estate, Goldman Sachs and Exmoor Group.

    Jonathan heads Macquarie Capital’s real estate investment banking business in Europe comprising a range of capital raising, M&A and restructuring advisory services allied to a co-investment and lending capability. He is an experienced real estate adviser who has led transactions valued at over £14 billion across private and public capital markets in UK, Europe and Australia.

    Jonathan is a founding member of a team of over 50 real estate executives in 12 locations globally whose specialist focus is on partnering the world’s leading investors with expert real estate operators. Since 2003, Macquarie Capital has secured over US$40 billion in equity commitments to fund 95 private equity real estate transactions encompassing clubs, joint ventures, PIPE, recapitalisations, privatisations, and primary and secondary fund raisings.

    Thomas Garbutt is a senior managing director and Head of Global Real Estate for the TIAA-CREF organization. Mr. Garbutt is responsible for the organization's global real estate activities both equity and debt including transactions and joint ventures, portfolio and asset management and strategy and research. He joined the TIAA-CREF organization in 1982 and has 30 years of experience in the real estate finance and investment industries.

    Mr. Garbutt is a member of the Urban Land Institute, the Pension Real Estate Association and The Real Estate Roundtable.

    He holds a B.S. in business administration from Binghamton University and an M.S. in real estate investment from New York University.
